Inconsistent Medication Delivery

A number of factors contribute to effective aerosol delivery for patients using a Valved Holding Chamber (VHC) with a pressurized Metered Dose Inhaler (pMDI). Healthcare providers understand the significance of the details that go into the manufacture of these devices, but patients will need to be educated how a carefully designed device can contribute to better disease management through consistent drug delivery.

Features like an anatomically designed facemask or feedback mechanisms like those found on the AeroChamber Plus* VHC with Flow-Vu* Inspiratory Flow Indicator helps caregivers feel secure in knowing proper technique is being used. A study by Crompton et al recommended all chambers have a way of confirming that inhalation is being performed correctly to encourage better compliance and thereby better disease management.1

Helping your patients understand how these features can improve their technique and identifying the proper device to meet their needs is critical to good disease management.

The AeroChamber* Brand of VHC has been carefully designed to include a number of characteristics that promote consistent medication delivery, such as:

Compact size to minimize the number of breaths required to empty the chamber

  • Anti-static materials or equivalent pre-treatment of transparent materials

  • Responsive inhalation valves

  • Capability to observe valve movement

  • Ability to observe and ensure a good facemask seal to face

  • Anatomically designed products to minimize dead space in facemask

  • Exhalation valve in facemask to minimize re-breathing and offers low-resistance to dead space

  • Clear instructions for washing and pre-treatment both before use and at specified intervals

Since 1922, Trudell Medical International* has continued to develop ground-breaking new products that enhance aerosol drug delivery designed to improve the quality of life for Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease patients worldwide. Our history of innovation and continued research are what have made the AeroChamber* Brand of VHC is the most widely recognized and most recommended brand of Valved Holding Chamber in the world.2
